Allegheny Scale Models
Allegheny Scale Models specializes in out of
production
O Scale and On3 Scale models. We also sell rolling stock and structure
kits, as well as other 1/4" scale
items. Although 1/4" Scale is our primary focus, we also have available high quality brass
locomotives, rolling stock, and kits in other scales, as well as out of
print books, railroadiana, and other items of interest.
Allegheny Scale Models
is a dealer for Glacier Park Models, Keystone Model Works, Middle Division,
Atlas O Scale, and SMG detail parts. We
also accept reservations for new Sunset 3rd Rail models.
We work with
a number
of other model railroad hobbyists to help find
specific items that our
customers are looking for, and we can provide our
customers with referrals for custom building,
repair, painting,
and DCC
installation services.
We advertise our list of available models in O Scale Trains magazine and on our website. We have a monthly ad in Model
Railroader magazine, and we are listed on the O Scale Resource website.
Orders and
Payment
We recommend that you call or email
us before placing an order to ensure
that the item is still available. If you
call and we are unavailable please
leave a message and we will return your call as
soon as possible. We will
hold
an item for seven days pending payment or deposit.
We accept money orders and personal checks. We also accept credit
card payments directly and through PayPal. For our international
customers, we request that payments be made in U.S. funds by PayPal,
Credit card, or bank wire transfer.
U.S. PayPal and Visa, Mastercard, and Discover Credit Card purchases are subject
to a 3.25%
transaction fee. The fee is 3.5% for American Express.
International PayPal and
Visa, Mastercard, and Discover Credit Card purchases carry a 4.25% transaction fee.
The international American Express fee is 4.5%.
If you would like to complete your purchase by credit card, please contact us
by phone or FAX.
We will consider lay-aways for purchases above
$1000.00. Please contact us for terms.
Reservations For New Models
ASM is a dealer for Glacier Park Models, Keystone Model Works, and Atlas
O Scale. We are happy to accept reservations for newly announced
models. Once your reservation is confirmed by the importer, we will send
you a written receipt for your order. Payment is due when the pickup notice arrives.
We will notify you immediately to arrange for payment and delivery after we are
invoiced by the importer.
Grading Standards
We try to be very
objective in describing the models that we sell. Please check our
"Grading Standards" page for an explanation of our model description
guidelines. We have separate grading standards for both the models and
for their original boxes.
Packing and Shipping
All orders should include an appropriate amount for shipping and insurance.
We will provide you a quote when you place your order. We pack all items
with extreme care. Our preferred shipping methods are USPS Priority Mail, USPS
International Priority Mail, and UPS Ground. All packages are shipped
insured with appropriate tracking. We can also provide quotes for
other carriers.
We value our International shipments based on the actual sale price of the
item. The customer is responsible for all applicable duties and fees.
If a model is damaged in shipping, please contact us as soon as possible.
Also, please retain all shipping and packaging materials. All shipping
damage claims are processed as stipulated by the carrier.
Returns
We try to provide accurate and objective
descriptions of all of the models that we have listed, and are always happy to
answer any questions that you may have. Should a problem arise, we will work
with you directly to resolve them. We accept returns only for models that
are not properly described in the listing.
To be eligible for a return. the buyer is
required to notify us within three days of receipt, and we must receive the
model within seven days of the buyer's receipt of the model. The model
must be returned to us in the same condition as when it was shipped. We do not
accept returns for those items described “As Is” in the listing.
Customers who return a model will
receive either a credit or a refund of the purchase price. Original
shipping charges are not refundable. The buyer is responsible for all packing
and shipping costs for a returned item.
Consignment, Appraisal,
and eBay Services
In addition to buying, selling, and
trading in O Scale, Allegheny Scale Models can provide appraisal, consignment, and
eBay selling services at
reasonable
rates to help you value and sell your model railroad items.
Allegheny Scale Models gladly accepts consignment items,
from a single model to an entire
collection. Please

Allegheny Scale Models lists models and
other items for auction on eBay
under the
name "alleghenytrains".
When an item is listed that has been
previously advertised either in print or on our website, our policy is to not
make the model available for direct sale until the auction has ended.
Winning auction bids take precedent over direct sales.
